Around The Grange
Granby Grange to host Country Dance and Jam Session

By Charlie Smith

  DECEMBER 18, 2012 --

Reserve Friday, December 28th from 7:00 till 10:00 PM, for a Country Dance and Jam Session at sponsored by Granby Grange, to be held at the Grange Hall, 212 North Granby Road (CT Rt. 189, North), North Granby, CT (Across from North Congregational Church).  Preferred parking is across the street in the commuter parking lot.

Come Jam or dance with us but plan to have fun.  The community is invited to come and approve the jammers.  We will provide the "gong" to end the performance of any jammer the crowd doesn't like using AYE or NAY votes in a hat at that performer’s feet.  More than one NAY vote ends that performers stint on the stage and the next one takes over.

It will be an Open Mike Jam Session, and dance callers are welcome, too.  All ages and all levels of skill invited for both dancers and musicians.  Attire is casual but comfortable.  Handicapped accessibility is limited at this time, but we hope to add a lift and ramps in the near future.

First eight musicians start first.  Play as you wish and if the crowd pleases and you can perform for over 1 hour, you will win $10.00 per hour.   A special prize is to be awarded at the end for the longest lasting performer(s).

Breaks scheduled for every half hour.  Light Refreshments and Alcohol free beverages will be available for sale down stairs.

Admission $10.00 per couple, $6.00 per single

Bring any money you would have spent Friday night on alcoholic beverages if you are a drinker, or would have spent before becoming sober if you are an AA member and put it in our Jam Jar, to be donated to a children’s medical facility.

Tentative plans are to repeat the program on Friday, January 25th (same times, same place) if we have a good turn-out.
