DECEMBER 4, 2012 --
Wonderful contributions from many of our members, and from proceeds of the Rubber Duck Race from our Fair last August, have enabled us to purchase an Automated External Defibrilator (AED) for our Hall. An AED is a life-saving device that is used when someone suffers cardiac arrest. Wilton is a Heart Safe Community, and we join the list of schools, churches and public buildings having an AED in place for cardiac emergencies. We anticipate its delivery prior to our December 6th meeting. We encourage all Granges owning a Hall to try raising the funds to acquire one of these life-saving devices. You never know when someone will suffer cardiac arrest; it can happen to anyone of any age.
During the recent hurricane, we found that our hot water heater had failed, and we have installed a new one thanks to the skills of Michelle McDonald, Doug Shepherd and Chris Sorensen. Our Hall was without power for nearly 1 week, and were forced to cancel our November meeting. So many of our members and friends have endured a hard time from downed power lines, uprooted trees and damage to property. The clean-up will take longer than the hurricane lasted.
Looking ahead, we have some interesting programs planned on great topics of interest. February 7th will have us all giving book reports on what we've been reading recently. If you would like to exchange books so others can share what you've been reading, please feel free to bring them. Please circle the date of SAturday, March 16th for our annual evening of Silent Movies with Cannon member John Mucci providing piano accompaniment and movie notes. This is a very popular annual event enjoyed by the public and Grangers alike.
Our holiday party will be at our December 20th meeting. Please bring a dessert or appetizer to share. There will be no business meeting that evening, and there will be no grab-bag; just a nice evening of conversation and refreshments.
Please note our meeting and event schedule. Business meetings begin at 7 PM and are followed by refreshments. Visiting Patrons are always welcome -- won't you join us?
