Prospect Grange October News

By Jean Meehan

  OCTOBER 2, 2012 --

Prospect had the privilege of meeting the new principal of Algonquin School and welcoming her to Prospedct then  handing out 110 dictionaries for the 10th year to the third graders.  We also donated box tops for kids and 6 library books for their library.  Principal McGeehan was very excited and interested in what the grange does for the communities.

We were able to donated dictionaries to 28 students at Tinker School in Waterbury.

We were saddened Sunday, September 16 with the passing of Inez Bramhall.  Inez has been a member of  Prospect Grange and a 7th degree member for 75 years of which she had been very active until these last few months.  She will be missed by all in our Grange and community.

Our September meeting was a visitor’s night and we were happy to welcome Joanne Cipriano, leader of the State Social Committee and Fred and Helena Schwalm of Whigville Grange and Robert Buck State Gatekeeper and Maggie Buck from the State Agricultural Committee and Ray and Cindy Legg from Beacon Valley Grange along with Diane and Denise Barbieri of Watertown Grange which brought numbers for the program. A good time was had by all.

Prospect Grange is having a raffle that will be drawn at the Excelsior Pomona’s annual bazaar and roast beef dinner at Beacon Valley Grange on November 3, 2012 along with a sale table.  We are busy making items for this event.

The November meeting will be our Thanksgiving program.  We ask that all attending bring a non- perishable food item to be donated to the local soup kitchen.

Refreshment committee includes  all our members.
