Around The Grange
Winchester Grange October Musings

By Todd Gelineau, Winchester Grange President

  OCTOBER 2, 2012 --

September was a busy, busy month for Winchester members.  The month began with plans underway for Winchester’s third entry in the Bethlehem Fair Grange Exhibit Contest.  We took home third place again this year and congratulate Taghhannuck on their first place winning exhibit.

Our fall tag sale was held on September 15 with a good turnout of shoppers and we thank everyone who donated their “stuff” for the sale.

All four degrees were conferred this month on two new members and we congratulate John and Billy.

Our Installation of Officers was postponed due to severe thunder, wind and tornadoes throughout the area on the night of our Sept. 18 meeting.  As of this writing, we are working on rescheduling for Tuesday, Oct. 9-- more info will be sent out to members when plans have been finalized with the Cameron/Barnes Installing Team.

Our fall Super Prize Party is scheduled for Friday, October 5.  Donations of new and lightly used items are always welcome.  The Super Prize Party (or really big Teacup Auction or Country Store) will begin at 6:00 P.M. and drawing of the prizes will begin at 7:00 P.M.  Join us!

Plans are also moving forward for our annual Holiday Bazaar & Cookie Walk scheduled for Saturday, November 3.  Last year’s Bazaar was canceled due to the Halloween snowstorm last year... hopefully Indian summer will be our reward for last year’s catastrophe!

Oct. 5:  Super Prize Party, 6:00 P.M. (Drawing begins at 7:00)

Oct. 9:  A Colorful Month (Kitchen Shower) / Installation of Officers

Oct. 23:  Halloween, Country Store

Nov. 3:  Holiday Bazaar & Cookie Walk
