JUNE 4, 2012 -- An annual late spring tradition returns to Winsted on Saturday night, as the Laurel Festival kicks off at Cornucopia Banquet Hall.
The festival runs from June 9 to 10, with the parade taking over downtown Winsted at 2 p.m. on June 10. However, before Winsted can crown the Laurel Queen for 2012, the candidates will have their night on June 9.
Starting at 7 p.m., the finalists for the Laurel Queen’s crown will hold court at Cornucopia Banquet Hall in Torrington. Candidates will be introduced at 7:30 p.m., with a buffet at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person, and the Laurel Ball will also feature a raffle and silent auction.
The annual Laurel Parade starts at 2 p.m., winding its way to East End Park for the Laurel Queen’s coronation, but vendors will once again line the park from 1 to 5 p.m. Once the Queen is crowned, though, her duties start just one week later at the Winchester Grange for the Strawberry Festival. |
