FEBRUARY 29, 2012 -- Buster Keaton. Best known for his silent films in which his trademark was physical comedy with a stoic, deadpan expression. Film enthusiasts of all ages are invited to attend a Saturday evening double-feature of two of Keaton's classic silent movies with live piano accompaniment hosted by Cannon Grange on Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 PM.
Audiences will be treated to the 1921 classic “The Haunted House" followed by the 1925 comedy “Seven Chances." Noted silent film historian and pianist John Mucci of Wilton will play an original live score accompaniment on the Grange’s early 1900-vintage piano.
Plan to arrive early for best seating, and spend the entire evening laughing at the antics of one of the greatest actors of all time. The films are perfect entertainment for children and adults alike.
Mucci, a member of Cannon Grange, has been accompanying silent films since 1972, and has been acclaimed as "bringing the silents back to life" and providing "hair-raising experiences" during the many chase scenes to delighted audiences.
Admission is $8.00 per person, $15 for two persons, and $5 for students through 12th Grade. Refreshments will be available.
Cannon Grange Hall is located at 25 Cannon Road in Wilton, with free parking available at the Grange Hall, Cannondale Village and at the Cannondale Railroad Station.
Cannon Grange has hosted their silent movie night annually for many years. According to Cannon Grange President Don Offinger, "We're now known as the venue for Silent Movies in town, and it has the high level of popularity as does our annual summer Ag Fair. We get people e-mailing and calling asking when they will be."
