JANUARY 18, 2012 -- On Tuesday, January 24th at 7:30 PM, Winchester Grange will sponsor a special program on safety in the home by Winchester Center Volunteer Fire Department Chief Peter Marchand. This special event will be held at Winchester Grange Hall.
In addition to home safety, Marchand will discuss proper use of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and answer questions from the community. Winchester Grange was instrumental in the development of the Winchester Center Volunteer Fire Department back in 1948, and today hosts the building that the Fire Department calls home.
The presentation is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served following the program. Winchester Grange Hall is located at 100 Newfield Road, Winchester Center.
Winchester Grange No. 74 was organized on January 2, 1888. Today, Winchester is the largest Grange in the state of Connecticut boasting nearly 300 members. Winchester Grange plays an important role in the community, and is best known for the yearly Agricultural Fair and Flea Market each August, Strawberry Festival every year on Father's Day, holiday bazaar, tag sales, concerts, programs and more.
