DECEMBER 14, 2011 -- Meriden Grange put out a call for a canned goods collection at their recent Family Style Roast Pork Supper, and the community generously responded. As the public entered the doors of the Grange Hall, canned and dry goods were received in overflowing amounts. At least in one case, a family dropped off an entire bag of canned goods.
The Meriden Grange Family Style Roast Pork Supper was held on December 10th. The Roast Pork supper itself was also a success with regular and new participants enjoying family-style servings of Cindy's famous Cole Slaw, mashed potatoes, green beans, slow-cooked roast pork. For dessert ice cream was served with a Christmas cookie.
This was the first time Meriden Grange has hosted a supper in December, and organizers would like to thank everyone who so generously donated and enjoyed the meal.
For more than 125 years, Meriden Grange has been active in the local community, holding numerous programs and dinners and raising money for local organizations like the Meriden Soup Kitchen and Meriden Humane Society, as well as hosting their popular annual fair each September.
