AUGUST 13, 2011 -- Prominent for many years along Main Street (Route 133) in the Bridgewater village center, the Grange Hall served as a schoolhouse until it was purchased in 1900.
To the right in this photo of more than a century ago is St. Mark's Church. Above, a pedestrian ambles across the village green.
The Girl Scouts planted a Christmas tree there during the Great Depression that still graces the Green and is the gathering point for Bridgewater's holiday celebrations.
Those who would like to loan or contribute a photo from any of the Greater New Milford-area towns should bring it to Norm Cummings at the Greater New Milford Spectrum office at 45B Main St. If the photo is to be returned, please leave a phone number and mailing address. |
