Around The Grange
Winchester Grange July Musings

By Todd Gelineau, Winchester Grange President

  JULY 8, 2011 --

It’s been a VERY busy late spring at Winchester Grange.  On June 4 we held our annual spring tag sale with beautiful weather and an excellent turn out.  A great profit was realized on a whole bunch of 5-cent and 25-cent items.  Every penny counts these days!

Our annual Strawberry Festival was held on Father’s Day with a near sell-out crowd lining up down the street to get their heaping plates of Strawberry Shortcake.  We were pleased to have the new Laurel Queen Madison-Kelly Peltier with us for the afternoon greeting guests and even serving some of the shortcake.  She was accompanied by first runner-up Katelyn Bailey and Mallory Rotondo.  Mallory is no stranger to Winchester Grange as she was a long time member of Winchester Junior Grange.  Congratulations to all and especially to Mallory.

Our Election of Officers was held at our second June meeting with some surprising changes to our ranks.  Sara Bement stepped down as Lecturer and Sister Ramona Fassio will be the new Lecturer in September.  Rae comes from a very long line of Winchester Lecturers as her mother, Barbara English, was Lecturer for many years along with her great-grandmother and even her daughter Terri Fassio served as Lecturer.  Sister Sara will move over to the Family Activities Committee along with Shirley Lemieux as Chair.  Pam Wright will be the new Chaplain.  Two of our newest members will also become Graces.  Congratulations and best of luck to all!

Dates to remember:

July 12:  Independence Day, Summer Country Store, Ref. Women (Sue Addison, Chr.)

July 26:  3H’s- Hazy, Hot & Humid, Ref. Sara Bement
