MAY 2, 2011 -- Winchester Grange couldn’t be happier to welcome THREE new members this spring. It also gave members the opportunity to dust off the cobwebs and confer all four degrees for our newest members. While the degrees may not have been perfect we know things will become more polished as we work towards fulfilling the State Master’s goal of 12 new members per Grange, per year! Nine more to go!
We have to give special thanks to Brother Victor Salazar who served as Master for the First and Second Degrees. He always does an excellent job and couldn’t do it without him. Thank you, Victor!
The members of Winchester are taking the new Agriculture contest to heart and are working with the Beardsley and Memorial Library in Winsted to sponsor a vegetable gardening program that will feature the growing of butternut squash for the purpose of donating the produce to area food pantries. The program will be held on May 19 from 6:30-7:30 P.M. The program will be conducted by Master Gardener and Grange member Sherry LeBlanc. We thank her for helping us promote the State Program and Winchester Grange. Wouldn’t it be great to move even closer to 12 new members with a few from this program as well?
Our annual Spring Gift Drawing is also coming up on Saturday, May 21. The doors will open at 6 P.M. and the drawing of prizes will begin at 7 P.M. For those who may not be familiar, a super prize party is a GIANT teacup auction or country store. We typically have over 200 individual items along with a dozen or more SUPER prizes that have a greater value. It’s a lot of fun and, as always, great refreshments will also be available. Join us! |
