APRIL 13, 2011 -- The public is invited to attend a program at Cheshire Grange featuring a presentation on raptor rehabilitation by "Horizon Wings" on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. The program will start at 7:30 PM at the Grange Hall, 44 Wallingford Road, Cheshire. It is in conjunction with the Committee on Women's Activities theme of "Taking Flight."
Horizon Wings of Ashford, Connecticut, will bring their program featuring birds-raptors that can no longer be released due to injury or prolonged captivity. Each bird has a story.
Horizon Wings, a non-profit organization, was formed in 2001 by Mary Beth Kaeser and her husband, Alan Nordell. They care for birds of prey that have been found injured, nursed back to health and released. Mary Beth has been a wildlife rehabilitator since 1985. Her husband has had a lifelong interest in raptors, and has been involved with the Bald Eagle Study Group in Connecticut for many years. They will also bring their mascot, a three legged turtle.
This program is family friendly and will be of interest to both adults and children. There is no charge for admission. The presentation will be followed by a Teacup Auction and refreshments.
