OCTOBER 19, 2009 -- Farmers, agricultural based business owners and interested residents are invited to an Information "AGtivity" program Wednesday at the North Stonington Grange on Wyassup Road.
The program will run 7 to 8:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
The speaker will be Amanda Fargo Johnson, coordinator of the Connecticut Farm Energy Program. She will illustrate examples of energy efficiency and renewable-energy projects that are available and how to obtain grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Energy for America Program.
Also on site for the evening will be local solar and wind system suppliers who will answer questions and provide information about their products. Results of the recently completed North Stonington Farm survey will be on display.
This is the first in a series of programs to be produced by North Stonington's Agricultural Steering Committee. The committee was formed earlier this year to support and promote agriculture in North Stonington. The topic of alternative energy resources for farms was identified as important to farmers who completed the recent agricultural survey.
Further details about the event are available from Town Planner Juliet Leeming at (860) 535-1416 or jleeming@northstoningtonct.gov.
