JUNE 9, 2010 -- Connecticut residents are invited to join the state's 375th anniversary celebration and enjoy an exciting in-state getaway during Connecticut's sixth annual Open House Day on Saturday. Several of Connecticut's Granges are opening their doors on Saturday with a variety of events.
Many of Connecticut's attractions, tourism destinations, arts and cultural organizations, lodging properties, historic sites and shops will roll out the welcome mat to visitors with a variety of special incentives such as discounted/free admission, free gifts and/or special exhibits and activities.
This one-day event is sponsored by The Hartford Financial Services Group in support of Connecticut's 375th anniversary, and is coordinated by the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism (CCT) to raise awareness among Connecticut's residents of all the state has to offer - from world-class art and rich history to outdoor adventures, family activities and opportunities for rest and relaxation - and to encourage residents to share their findings with visiting family and friends.
"Open House Day is a great way to sample destinations for your summer excursion in Connecticut by visiting parks, museums, galleries, historic sites and attractions in regions of the state that you may not have yet explored," said Gov. M. Jodi Rell. "Connecticut offers so much to enjoy as we celebrate our 375th."
