Wolcott Grange distributes dictionaries
  MARCH 20, 2010 --

Members of Wolcott Grange No. 173 recently distributed over 200 dictionaries to 3rd Graders in three elementary schools in Wolcott, CT.

As part of the Dictionary Project, Wolcott Grange members Louis Godin, Pearl Godin, Ray Legg and Cindy Legg made the presentations to classes at Alcott Elementary School, Frisbie Elementary School, and Wakelee Elementary School.

The Dictionary Project organization was created to provide a dictionary to students to help with their homework and their school work. A dictionary is an essential tool for a quality education. A student cannot do his or her best work without one. A child develops his understanding of the world and builds a frame of reference on what he or she knows, a dictionary provides the knowledge to better understand our world and the words to share information.

Wolcott Grange is proud to support The Dictionary Project through the National Grange's Word for Thirds program. Through the tireless efforts of Granges across the country, the organization has presented third grade students with more than 100,000 dictionaries.
