MARCH 3, 2010 -- On March 19th, after a potluck supper at 6:30 pm, Riverton Grange members will push back the tables to create a dance floor so that Jim Todd a dance expert can present a contra dance.
Jim and his wife Kathy live in Collinsville and over the years have had the opportunity to participate in many different styles of folk dancing including New England contra dance, English, French, Scottish, and Italian country dance, as well as Irish, Russian, Scandinavian, and various Eastern European/Balkan, Renaissance, Medieval dances. In addition to dancing, Jim is an accomplished singer.
He and his wife are long time members of the Canton Center Church Choir, sing in the Winsted Boar's Head Festival, are members of the Laurel City Singers, also of Winsted, and Jim is the choral director/choreographer for the Riverton Production of A Christmas Carol.
The dances that Jim will present include English/contra dances including "Dancing at the Riverton Grange" which Jim wrote just for this occasion. He asks that participants wear comfortable shoes and be over age 13. Space will be limited. Please call for reservation at 860-379-8871
